It’s fascinating to see children grow from year to year. And when Joseph and Mary saw Jesus grow from year to year they were surely fascinated as well, but for another reason: Jesus wasn’t just a boy, but God in the flesh. And they undoubtedly helped prepare him for his heavenly Father’s mission by the way they raised him. Matthew 2:19-23 shows how Jesus is prepared for his mission by the way that he was raised. This can help all of us consider how our lives impact those we raise or desire to impact for God’s purposes.
