SUMMARY:Cup of Nations - Outreach Opportunity
DESCRIPTION:This year’s Cup of Nations will be Saturday\, May 25th from 11:00am – 4:00pm at Hill Country Indoor in Bee Cave. Cornerstone has the opportunity once again to serve as a fan club for one of the teams. Possible teams include Afghanistan\, Syria\, Palestine\, Egypt\, Kazakhstan\, Cameroon\, Congo\, and Rwanda. This is a great opportunity to not just observe the games and watch the players\, but to get to know them and the other spectators from different nations living within our own city. Having Christians on site aiming to be welcoming and friendly is key. Other churches/small groups will be participating as well. \nStrategic relationships developed for Cornerstone members Jon & Pam Burris’s ministry\, Nations Within Austin\, after participating in last year’s Cup. Jon says\, “We encourage our church to participate and pray as it really is a fun experience and great way to make a kingdom impact in the city among the nations God has brought here. We are praying that the Lord will use this to open the eyes of our hearts (in local churches) to see that the field is white for harvest.” \nCup of Nations is an annual futsal tournament (indoor soccer) where 8-12 teams represent their home countries. As of 2021\, 18.5% of Austin residents are foreign-born. Throughout God’s Word\, we encounter many voices who teach us how to pray. \nIn this 7-session study\, join with six beloved Bible teachers who will help you study prayers in the Bible that can inspire your own. You’ll learn that God welcomes your praise and lament\, your thanksgiving and intercession. You’ll see examples of how to pray when you’re alone and when you’re gathered with others. Above all\, you’ll notice there’s no one right way to pray. As you draw near to God through prayer\, you’ll find your faith strengthened and your heart united to Christ. \nThis women’s study group will meet every other Tuesday evening from 7:00-8:30pm at the home Donna Reed.
